On the possibility of determining the type of the beam fastening by its natural frequencies

Abstract

We consider the inverse problem of finding the character of fastening for one of the ends of a beam that is inaccessible to direct observation, by the natural frequencies of its bending vibrations. The uniqueness theorem for the solution of this inverse problem is proved. The corresponding counterexamples are given.
