Abstract

The results of experimental studies of the cooling process of the water bacterial suspensions in a cylindrical vessel near the maximum density of water are present. Carried out direct numerical simulation of convective flow of water. Studied the flow regimes, the calculated integral parameters of the flow. Shows the influence of surface tension on the formation of flow structure, resulting in significantly changed the rate of cooling of the vessel.

Problem: Studied the convection flow of the water bacterial suspension in the cylindrical vessel near water density maximum. Experimentally measured cooling curves and viscosity of the suspension. In the numerical experiment studied the influence of surface tension on the structure of convective flows.

Methods: Temperature in the center of a cooled cylindrical vessel with bacterial suspension was measured experimentally. Rheological characteristics of water bacterial suspension obtained by the method of the falling ball. Direct numerical simulation of convective flow with influence of surface tension was carried out.

Result: 1) Found that cryogenic shock on the microorganisms in suspension, significantly changed the mechanical properties of the suspension. 2) Show that the rheological properties of suspensions are determined by the volume concentration of microorganisms in suspension. 3) Studied the influence of surface tension on the structure of the convective water flow, it is shown that the flow structure is change significantly.
