The paper presents the results of direct numerical simulation of the process of turbulence development in the case of fluid flow around the body on the example of the formation of the Karman path. A two-dimensional design area describes an open channel with an obstacle. For the implementation of direct turbulence simulation, the number of nodes in the computed area exceeds 1.5 × 106, which inevitably entails a significant decrease in the time step for maintaining the stability of the numerical scheme. The program code is implemented using OpenMP and MPI parallelization technologies for a computational cluster.
